FAQs

An Evening of Betrayal
Do I need to provide anything?
The Intrigue Society will provide all the essential equipment that is necessary for you to enjoy the game. This includes:
- music with a bluetooth speaker
- name labels
- chalkboards
- chalk
- blindfolds
- game components
Additional things that clients have previously chosen to provide for themselves/their group include:
- room & table decorations
- player photos on a board
- red paper crosses
- a prize for the winner(s)
Do I need to hire a venue?
You do not need to hire a venue in order to book one of our events. We host in a variety of settings – and that includes clients’ homes, not just hired venues. Whether it’s a private function room, an Airbnb, the local rugby club, community centre, or simply just your house, we can make it work – as long as you have enough space for your preferred group size!
Is there a min/max group size?
An Evening Of Betrayal requires a minimum of 10 players, but can be enjoyed by groups of up to 26 participants. Larger groups may be considered on a case-by-case basis depending on your requirements, so please do get in touch if this applies to you!
Is there a minimum player age?
The recommended minimum age for participation is 10 years old. This game does require fairly good patience and attention, as well as a degree of skilled communication, so very young participants may struggle to remain engaged. However, we are happy to work with you on a case-by-case basis if you’re looking to book for players younger than 10, as we know that there are many bright young minds out there!
Can I choose who the Traitors are?
Your Intrigue Society host will choose the Traitors at the beginning of your event, as this allows every player to then participate in the game. Traitors are chosen following a series of anonymous questions, and our hosts are trained well in how to pick out the best players for this role.
General Questions
How do you determine prices?
The quoted price for your event is determined by several factors, including:
- number of players
- length of game
- type of event
- location & date
An increase in player numbers or game time, for example, will incur an increase in event cost. Some dates may fall into a high-demand or peak season, such as Christmas/New Year periods, and these are priced at a higher rate. There may also be additional costs for travel & accommodation expenses where our hosts have to travel outside of their local areas – especially for reimbursement of fuel (45p per mile) or public transport tickets, and where an overnight stay is required.
Can my venue team up with you?
Absolutely! We are currently partnered with one venue and would love to expand our connections. If you own any of the following, or similar, then we would love to hear from you:
- pub/bar
- restaurant
- hotel
- board game café
- theatre
- any community space
We will come to an agreement on several things:
- the fee you will pay to The Intrigue Society for running the event
- the maximum number of players we can accommodate as hosts (if your venue has the capacity to run two groups in separate rooms, this will vastly bump up the maximum player count)
- the date & time for your event
- the length of your event (we are able to easily facilitate multi-day/weekend events at venues where overnight accommodation is accessible)
You will be able to set your own ticket price and are responsible for the marketing/selling of the event. Anything else you wish to add, such as food and drinks, will also be your own responsibility.
If you are interested in partnering your venue with us, please send an email to info@theintriguesociety.co.uk

Immersive Role-Playing Events
Highly-immersive, unique in-person gaming experiences that put you at the very centre of the story. Or maybe you will take to the high seas as a notorious pirate crew in search of treasures, only to find that the brewing storm on the horizon may actually just be mutiny… The options are endless!
These Role-Playing Games are the perfect opportunity for players to become the characters, and your actions will affect the story. One of our professional actors will facilitate the gameplay, but the ending is unwritten. Every choice matters, every decision counts. The quill is in your hands…
Escape Room Games
Standalone themed escape rooms that you can play at home. These include a variety of “print and play” games that can be instantly downloaded, as well as physical copies that can be posted to your home address after purchase.
The Intrigue Society Mysteries

Customers will be able to purchase each chapter individually, or opt to subscribe to a monthly delivery for each subsequent chapter. Payment options will include a one-off payment in full for the entire series, as well as an instalment plan for splitting the cost on a monthly basis.
